About
About The V Lab
An independent lab for learning and practising health data science, with a focus on Alberta.
What we do
The V Lab writes long-form, self-contained learning guides on the methods health data work depends on — biostatistics, epidemiology, visualization and reproducible reporting — and applies them in projects built around Alberta's administrative health data.
Most guides are published in English and Chinese, and every page is open on GitHub.
How we work
- Synthetic, never real. Projects use synthetic or public data only; no patient-level records are published.
- Reproducible. Analyses are written in R Markdown with pinned environments so they can be rebuilt.
- Sourced. Dataset descriptions point back to the official custodians rather than copying their documents.
- Educational. Nothing here is clinical, legal or data-access advice.
Track hubs
Each learning track also has its own home page.
